It is a shooting format using more than one camera, connected through a system commonly called a Switcher.

So, even if more than one camera is used, if they are not connected to each other, the format cannot yet be categorized as a multicam system. As for the broadcast, it can be aired live or time-delayed (live on tape). Types of shows that use multicamera include: talk shows, sitcoms, game shows, music shows, quizzes, magazines, and variety shows.
